12mo, two volumes, pp,464,464, folding map and ten engravings by Jackson, tissue-guarded extra engraved title-pages, brown cloth boards neatly rebacked with the original labels of the "Edinburgh Cabinet Library" relaid,  publisher's advertisements to the front of each volume, uncut,  small early stamps of a Dumfries previous owner to the endpapers, some age-toning to text, a very good copy.

Crichton {1790-1855] was a Scottish Presbyterian cleric and man of letters.  His work was praised as a comprehensive resource on the history and character of the Arabs and is considered culturally important for preservation.
